Mitchell Dancik is the singer/guitarist/songwriter of the 1970's band
"Just Water", who were pioneers of the NYC indie rock scene, and regularly played the great venues of that era like CBGBs and Max's Kansis City. The Senators were formed in 1979 and are sometimes real, but mostly virtual. Mitchell Dancik has written hundreds of songs, and in addition to releasing CDs on Branded Records, he has a "Song Of The Month Club" that distributes free MP3s. You can sign up on www.tomboftheunknownartist.com. Mitchell Dancik & The Senators record in North Carolina, although various guest Senators contribute tracks from around the country. Branded Records is involved in various reissue projects, which started with a 3-CD anthology of Just Water (which includes some demos that are actually "Senators" recordings). Branded Records will be releasing 2 Senators CDs recorded in 1978 and 1979: "The Rift", and "Holocausts In Your Sleep". The latest Mitchell Dancik & The Senators release is "Short Journeys", recorded 2008-2009 and available in May 2010. Influences include 1960's British Invasion as well as the American rock featured on the "Nuggets" collection. Pete Townshend's influence is worn proudly, as Mitch was a roadie for The Who in 1970. Mitchell Dancik plays guitar, piano, bass, programmed drums, and synths. Vocals are mostly done by Mitch, with occassional lead vocals by Ira Bernstein. Ex-Just Water bandmates have helped out from time to time.
