You may remember Davíd Garza, not as a 2010 inductee to the Music Hall of Fame in Austin, USA, but as an 18-year-old on the University of Texas West Mall improvising acoustic songs about "Amnesty" and "Sunflowers" with classmates Jeff Haley on bull fiddle and Chris Searles on bongos. In 1989 Twang Twang Shock A Boom's exuberant devotees immediately snapped up all 6,000 copies of their self-released debut, Me So Twangy. After one incredible year selling out venues like Liberty Lunch, the sophomores split up in 1990, but Garza toured constantly ever after — performing Twang songs like "Butterflies" and "Big Stick" all the while. Though the cassette was out of print for 20 years, the miracle of the Interwebs allowed these three friends (happy to still be relevant to some) to remaster and reissue Me So Twangy in December of 2009. In 2010, after selling out four Austin shows and showcasing at Joe's Pub in Manhattan, the trio offered an EP of never-before-available tunes, Twanger. Twang's catalogue, rich with the promise of their future music careers, has both stood the test of time and found a new generation of fans. Read more on Last.fm.
