Carter Beckworth is a professional musician from Austin, Texas. He released his debut album, "Fairweather Grace" in 2007. He is also the lead vocalist of the Pop/Rock band, Baker Hotel, with whom he has released two albums, 2008's "Baker Hotel," and "Hard To Prove" (2010).
Beckworth's self-titled follow-up to 2007's "Fairweather Grace" is set for release in April, 2011. His newer work is showcased in a truly unique new style, combining R&B and electronic elements that highlight Beckworth’s songwriting prowess in a surprisingly organic, if modern-sounding framework.
Beckworth regularly performs both as a solo artist and with Baker Hotel, showcasing his skills in multiple contexts.
His acoustic performances feature moving ballads that discover the songwriter within, a skeleton of the larger-than-life persona he has cultivated on the big stage.
If there is one thing that house-concert and festival goers alike can agree on, it is the astounding diversity in style and theme of Beckworth’s massive portfolio.
ON BAKER HOTEL:
"Baker Hotel produces a sound unlike any other. Frontman Carter Beckworth's unparalleled songwriting is complemented by driving guitar work that results in 'A top pic of local bands to go listen to in Austin' [Ben Barnes].
-BEN BARNES, AUSTIN 360
“Their sound is reminiscent of ground breakers like Peal Jam, ZZ Top, and Guns N' Roses.”
-AARON PORTER, STUDY BREAKS MAGAZINE
“Pop poignancy with a whiskey edge..”
-ADDISON BENNETT, MAROON WEEKLY
“The Austin-based rock act tours relentlessly across Texas and the Southeast. In addition to playing marquee venues in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Austin, TX, the band has opened for such nationally recognized acts as Bruce Robison, The Resentments, Micky and the Motorcars, and Bob Schneider.
In 2009 Baker Hotel employed the services of producer Hunt Sales (Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Tim Machine). Under the guidance of Sales the group has produced a powerful rock album; "Hard To Prove," Baker Hotel's full-length debut, showcases the raw talent of the young musicians and presents a sophisticated collection of songs with memorable hooks and remarkably thoughtful concepts."
