"sub-tle." are a Japanese post-rock band that met and formed in 2003 in Klaus Dinger's Zeeland commune in the Netherlands. The band was made up of Satoshi Okamoto and Kazuki Onouchi. Okamoto is a proffessional electronic musician who made his na
me in Japan working Kazumi Nikaido and Jugo Nagisa amongst others, as well as releasing 3 solo albums. He was a guest at the 1998 'Zeeland Festival', a gathering of musicians and artists (as well as personal friends) organised by ex-NEU! and La Dusseldorf frontman Klaus Dinger. Okamoto moved to Dusseldorf in order to participate in Dinger's new project 'Japandorf'.
Onouchi is an illustrator by trade. On becoming tired with his career he moved to Dusseldorf in order to study music at the Conservatoire there. Here he met Dinger and Okamoto.
Under Dinger's patronage the pair formed sub-tle., releasing 'pre_mary' in 2008 on the 'onpa)))))' label, featuring a handwritten not by Dinger on the back cover.
Dinger's sudden death in the March of that year postponed the project, which lay dormant for a year, before being resumed in 2009 as a Satoshi Okamoto solo project. Since then sub-tle. has relocated to Berlin and now largely deals in creating art instalations and occasional live performances, although further work may come to light when Dinger's Japandorf' project is finally released.
