Caroline Kingsbury is a queer artist born and raised in the church. She had little access to secular music until her teen years when its discovery led her to run headfirst toward a life in music. "Heaven's Just a Flight" (April 2021), her 16-song debut album, landed on PopMatters' "Best Indie-pop Albums of 2021" and was featured in Pitchfork. Pitchfork praises the album as "a collage of stylistic eras united by their outsized personalities from disco to post-punk... Recalling the naked vulnerability of Kate Bush or Karen O." During the creation of her debut, Caroline's brother, Kyle, lost his five-year battle with cancer, and as its release, the COVID pandemic was ravaging the world. Heaven's Just a Flight is a sparkling time capsule preserving the pivotal moments of her life like grief, coming out as queer, and entering her first queer relationship. "Fall in Love" of her debut was featured on the Scream (2022) soundtrack as well as "Breaking Apart" appeared on Generation (Freeform).
