RdL

RdL was formed in 2000 by members Mondii and Naph. They have no certain musical concept nor instrumental roles, they rather play and make sounds by instinct to form "something," while aiming to capture and melt into any sound, situation, or environment. RdL started out as a seven piece band but are currently active as a duo. Soon after the band formed, they got signed to a deal from Japanese record company P-Vine, but because of the member changes and hectic daily life, it took nearly ten years to complete their first album, "Decades Away From Home..." They have previously contributed to compilation albums on German label Staubgold, Japanese label Weather, and American label Odd Shaped Cases. They also organized the multi-genre label Nature Bliss Inc. Both members of RdL also have solo side projects. Mondii released his first album on American label Hefty Records, and also provides tracks to over 20 labels worldwide. He also makes music for television commercials. He also runs labels SPEKK, PLOP, Lantern and has showcased his labels at international festivals such as Mutek (Montreal), Sonar (Barcelona), BEAF (Bellingham), Qwartz (Paris) and in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. He also regularly works as graphic designer and English translator. Naph has been making background music for computer games and television commercials, and as an engineer, he has mixed/mastered/arranged/co-written many tracks and albums, including some with Tujiko Noriko, Mina Kumari, Kool Keith, Motohiro Nakashima, Alejandro Franov, Apple Light, and Lily of the Valley. He also plays in the band All The Frogs Are Our Weekend with Chihei Hatakeyama, a.k.a. Opitope (Kranky/Room40) and Tomoyasu Takanishi, a.k.a. Flower Triangle (Novel Sounds). Read more on Last.fm.
