BIO
Rick Callier born in New Orleans, born to play music. His entire family are musicians and singers. Three of them, including himself, have made a living that way especially his oldest brother Elliott “Stackman” Callier.
Rick studied music privately with the late great Clyde Kerr, Sr. (New Orleans, LA), Eugene Kaza, Thera Memory and Mary Fields (Portland, OR), Claude Gordon and Bill Nevitts (Michigan). He studied music composition/theory at University of Oregon & Calvin College and Seminary, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Giving back began early for Rick with unlikely students such as Marlon “The Magician” McClain, El & Mark DeBarge and many other notables in music.
According to Rick, “my best instrument is talented and gifted musicians and singers.” As a composer/arranger/orchestrator, he finds his star and strongest stage performance as Conductor, Musical Director and Record Producer.
In 2010, Hakim and Rick Callier produced a 14 song album described as “…an eclectic brand of smooth jazz, R&B, classical rock and atmosphere…music that will excite and soothe your soul.”
Rick looks forward to bringing an inspiring and life changing “live” performance to the stage as he performs songs from his debut, solo, multi-instrumentalist (Trumpet, Flute, Guitar, Piano), Nu-Jazz album entitled: “7even”
