Bandazian

Citing no genre, Bandazian combines energetic rock and vintage overtones into fresh and focused songwriting. Based out of Asheville, NC (originally from Fairfax, Va), the quartet captivates all audiences with a polished, unadulterated performance that showcases their music in a fitting and memorable presentation. Their debut album, In Vacant Fields, expands this experience into an identifiable yet artistic medium that evokes appeal from all sides of the musical spectrum.

Ranging from tastefully produced ballads to foot-tap-inducing pop anthems, "In Vacant Fields" is a cohesive musical journey that showcases creative songwriting and solid performances. A stark departure from the band's previous efforts, "In Vacant Fields" finds the band forging new direction by pushing creative limits on production, and musical and lyrical fronts. It is at once eclectic and focused. The rhythm infused "Crocodile Tears" is evidence that people still can, and do write great rock songs. Such tunes as the folk-laced "Think of Me" and "Stuck In-Between" demonstrate a fresh, almost philosophical introspection that gives hope to all those who despair about the lack of depth in today's music. The Rhodes electric piano, a recent addition to the band's repertoire, adds a colorful vintage aesthetic to Bandazian's ever evolving sound and is one of many indications of the band's classic appeal.

Out of a desire for a change of scenery and a departure from the turbulent distraction of urban hustle, Bandazian songwriters Alex Keena and Ricky Powderly packed their bags and headed west in search of creative inspiration. While Iowa, the destination of the 1100 mile journey, seemed an unassuming locality, it never-the-less proved to be just the change that was needed to record Bandazian's debut album. Over the course of three weeks, all ten tracks on "In Vacant Fields" were conceived and engineered while operating out of a small country cottage. Read more on Last.fm.
