Missouri born singer/songwriter Scott Warren moved to Los Angeles in 2000 to reconnect with his older sister. Shortly thereafter, he formed the indie-rock outfit, Signal Hill Transmission, a band with four releases under it's belt, the most recent via ATO Records. Writers have routinely compared their sound to bands Fountains of Wayne, Wilco, and The Replacements, with Jim Musser of The Iowa Press Citizen describing Warren's voice as "Paul Westerberg with a dash of Psychedelic Furs' Richard Butler." In the past year and change, Warren's music with the band and in other collaborations has appeared on The CW's "90210," VH1's "Free Radio," Food Network's "Giada at Home," New Regency's "Firehouse Dog," and Fox Atomic's "The Rocker." He also recently co-composed the music for Miramax Films' new opening logo. In late 2008, he assembled a group of friends to record his debut solo effort, Quick Fix Bandage.

"The opportunity to make this record presented itself in the most organic of ways," says Warren. "My good friend, Kevin Houlihan, was watching a house in Studio City, CA for most of 2008, that up until late October was used exclusively for it's pool and barbeque grill. It seemed logical to bring in a bunch of gear and turn the place into a recording studio." With a deadline of the end of the year (when the homeowner would return), they got to work. Some amazing musicians stopped by to contribute: Brian Young (Fountains of Wayne, The Posies), Tommy Rickard (Michelle Shocked, Linda Perry), Taras Prodaniuk (Lucinda Williams, Richard Thompson), Brian Lapin (Black-Eyed Peas, The Shore), Magic Kramer (Ray Charles), Helen Belangie, Rich McCulley, & Shana Gray. January came, as did the homeowner. Scott took his songs home to Highland Park, CA for additional recording and then passed them off to Ethan Allen (The 88, Patty Griffin) to mix. Scott explains, "Ethan and I hit it off right away both musically and personally and I think that shows in the end result."

Quick Fix Bandage, which boasts ten songs penned by Warren and a completely re-imagined take on America's "Sister Golden Hair," is a collection of subtle yet powerful reflections on loves lost and found and the crossed wires one encounters along the way. Throughout the thirty-five plus minute record, Warren's gift for writing understated, memorable hooks remains intact. Songs stick after a listen or two, with multiple layers revealing themselves upon further spins. Scott explains, "I wanted to make a record that was organic in it's instrumentation, but at the same time ethereal and otherworldly sounding in parts. I got there by lacing straightforward acoustic-based arrangements with guitar feedback, tremelo, ebow, double tracked vocals and other assorted noises. It was truly a labor of love and I can't thank everyone enough that had a hand in making a reality." Quick Fix Bandage is available physically at Scott-Warren.com and digitally through iTunes, July 28th, 2009. Read more on Last.fm.
