Thomas Fraser lived on Burra Isle, in the Shetland Islands, the northern most set of islands in the United Kingdom. He died in 1978 aged 50.

He'd been a fisherman and crofter on one of the remotest, windiest, most desert-like regions in the world. Perhaps just an average man by day at his work, at night, when the Shetland sky darkened by early afternoon, he played some heartfelt, picked-perfect country and blues laments with plenty of added yodels.

He recorded thousands of songs in his croft on a reel-to-reel recorder, and these were passed to his nephew. Over the years his nephew gave out various copies as the requests grew, and now, having gained enough notoriety that tribute concerts have been setup and word has reached as far as Nashville, the family have released Fraser's work, so far, in three collections: Long Gone Lonesome Blues, You and My Old Guitar and Treasure Untold.
