At a Radio interview at Yinka Ayefele’s Fresh FM 105.9 in Nigeria back in 2017 Lami proclaimed the rise of a growing genre he called “Afro Trap”.From 2017 until now we can see he wasn't wrong at gauging the direction of Afrobeat scene since he knew all too well “ Wherever there is struggle, people will relate to trap music”



Maruf Salami better known by his stage name Lami Cruise is a Nigerian - American Rapper, Songwriter, and Creative Director from Highbridge, Bronx, NYC. Developing a passion for singing and rapping at the age of 8 while in his elementary school music class, Cruise became inspired to continue writing music from there on out. After being sent to a Military Training Facility in Ibadan, Nigeria due to delinquent behavior during his teenage years, he came back and released his first and second projects “Concrete Mountains” and “Lami Tsunami Vol.1 at the age of 18 & 19 respectively.
