Synop is the pseudonym of electronic composer and musician Ton Janssen from the city of Eindhoven, The Netherlands. His music can be generally described as minimal, melodramatic electronic compositions with a darker undertone. Under the Red Pony label released Synop’s debut weather code in 2013, which can be labeled under the Darker Ambient Genre. In these starting days mostly active on Soundcloud and Bandcamp covering positive attention by webzines as Infernal Masquerade, Ambientblog and Hypnos webzine.

In following releases the darker ambient genre is exchanged for a lesser genre strict approach varying from minimal piano, layered sound/drone-scapes to atmospheric melodramatic cinematic pieces. Inspiration mainly found in darker genre like artists such as Loscil, Raime, A winged victory for a Sullen and Machinefabriek. This resulted in albums; At the end of the world when the lights fade out, 77 Bomber and Post Silence.

The latest release Past Silence (2018) is his relative lightest work accompanied with a re-edit of N. Geyrhalter film Homo Sapiens, a film about the finiteness and fragility of human existence. This documentary originally contains no music at all but sees a complete other daylight with the Past Silence tracks accompanying and perfectly fitting the images.
