Nikolis Tary is an American recording musician. In his early twenties, he began to record short lo-fi melodies into cheap analog gear. Since then, his production has moved digitally, focusing on ambient, electronic, dance, new wave, and post-punk genres.

Orginally from Daytona Beach, Florida, Nikolis spent most of his life moving and traveling. After several stints in Florida and Chicago, he moved to California. He currently resides in Los Angeles.

A fond appreciator of various styles and genres, Nikolis' influences include the likes of Joy Division, The Clean, Wire, Jesus and Mary Chain, Com Truise, Tycho, and Ariel Pink (to whom he says was his reason for wanting to record). His music reflects these respective artists, where tempos, rhythms, and moods can be comparable. His style can generally fall into two main genres- electronic and post-punk. According to his Facebook page, he describes his sound as "...focused on modernism, minimalism, and the melancholy."

A self described 'vertically integrated' recording artist, Nikolis was entirely self taught, from musical instruments to audio editing to photo design. He oversees all aspects of production, and is known to be very introverted.

His self titled debut, Nikolis, was released digitally in 2011. Since then, he has made two albums, Blue & White (2012) and Collapse Into Light (2013). He is currently working on his fourth LP, entitled The Vacant Age, due in 2014. Read more on Last.fm.
