Depending on who you ask mortimer’s songs are either quirky rock aka Weezer, Ben Folds or melodic epic rock such as Athlete or Coldplay.

Mortimer are a five piece band based in London, UK

The band were formed in 2000 when keyboardist Marco Bensi joined singer/songwriters Rich Kent and Ben Hampshire, guitarist Jonny Lord and drummer Matt Hayday. They all met at Durham University and started as a cover band playing gigs in colleges and bars. They continued playing covers whilst Ben and Rich began to write original material together.

When they left University they began playing pub gigs in Kent before hitting the London venue scene in 2001 with their new material. With a passion for similar music they found it easy to agree on their sound and direction.

They are now gigging more than ever before, showcasing their songs at respected venues such as The Bull & Gate, The Garage, The 12 Bar Club, The Half-moon, Dublin Castle and The Hope & Anchor.
