i'm terrible at these things, but no one else is going to do it so here it is. my name is jonnas and i am the founding father of drivesafe. there is a very meaningful story behind the name...feel free to email us if you're curious. i have been writing and performing music for several years in various projects around the world but this one in particular, though left for dead after extremely bad decisions, never lost its pulse. it started several years ago when i moved to austin for a change of scenery. my sis was going to school at arlen studios and was able to sneak me in from time to time. helping us out in these late night sessions was a kid from tyler named topher barnett. topher from tyler and i shared a mutual taste in music, as well as food and film. thus ,we agreed it would be a capital idea to "start a band". with the aid of fellow hickory street employees tara and erin, drivesafe was ready to commence.

now, i'm gonna skip ahead here a toonce only because i have little patience for this shit. better yet, let me make a chronological list of events:

- drivesafe records 5 songs in austin
- jonnas moves back to la. to pursue what can only be described as "the dumbest career decision he's ever made"
- it doesn't work out so he moves to nyc
- there he meets joe lovett who sees great potential in the young songwriter and signs on as his manager
- joe lovett introduces jonnas to producer joe vulpis who also sees great potential in the young songwriter
- jonnas brings two friends, eddie and stephen, from la so the three can record an album at joe v's studio in jersey
- upon finishing the drum and bass tracks, the two return home
- two songs from the twelve track record "for sure...hopefully" are completed, mixed and mastered, and handed to howard rosen in la...one of the biggest radio promoters in the country
- 'fully operational' and 'single file' are moderately successful in two formats across the country
- in october of '08, topher barnett moves to ny to reclaim his bass/vocal position in the band
- november '08, jonnas and topher go back to the studio to finish three more songs from the record...'circles from the center', 'grass was never blue', and 'your own device'.

that pretty much brings us up to date. let me make this clear, as if it's not already...i suck at this. our bio is only temporary. eventually i'll be able to pay someone to hear our story and write it down in a way that makes us seem cooler than we are. until that day, here ya go. thanks for coming to our page. -Jonnas Read more on Last.fm.
