He claims to be the reincarnation of Hart Crane and his voice has been likened to Jeff Buckley and young Robert Plant. His live shows whether solo or with a band behind him, are dynamic and exciting reflections of soul.
Born 22 years ago in Pittsburgh, PA, Dan Koshute (Magna Persona) discovered his musical vision at a young age and began cultivating his songwriting and voice in his early teens. Soon he formed his first bands and studied Jeff Buckley, Smashing Pumpkins, and U2 endlessly. As Dan reacahed his high school graduation his live shows were already becoming talked about.
Koshute enrolled at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh but left after one year to devote his life to music and, at just 19, released his first record, "The Meager and the Mighty [EP]" entirely on his own.
Days later, Koshute boarded a train bound for New York City carrying a guitar and a backpack filled with several copies of his EP. There he met all his heroes, met new ones, and found the East Village Anti-Folk scene to be like family. After subsequent trips back and forth, he decided to return home to finish his most ambitious project yet, his first full-length album.
Koshute's new, debut LP, "Kiss Line" was recorded beneath the city of Pittsburgh and was written almost completely while he was led through the streets of NYC. The 11 tracks of "Kiss Line" are what he refers to as "regal dispositions". At times soaring and transcendent, while others are starkly intimate and organic, "Kiss Line" is a unque and powerful work, the likes of which do not come around often. Read more on Last.fm.
