Local Heroes was formed in the late 1990's by three Toronto songwriters Sean McDermott (lead vocals), Don Mackinnon (lead guitar & keyboards) and Bob Webber (rhythm guitar). They teamed up with drummer Michael Thorne, and bassist Tessa Kimmel and the 5 seasoned pro's blasted onto the Toronto music scene. They quickly won Mix 99.9's songwriting contest with Track 1, "I BELIEVE". Soon after, they released their debut CD "A DIFFERENT LIGHT", and also received a grant from FACTOR to produce a video for the title track "A Different Light" which garnered heavy rotation on MuchMusic. The quintet continued their success by making appearances in Toronto clubs, on tv and enjoyed the ongoing radio airplay of their winning song.
