In December of 2000, Pain In Life was formed with the unification of guitarists Will Dye and Billy Florence, drummer Randall Day, bassist Jeremy Masters and vocalist Scott McGrady. Initially a collective of musicians interested in becoming a successful cover band, the group played together for a time without any direction and after losing Billy and Jeremy to conflicts of interest, the band went through several members but never found a lineup that really worked.


The Remaining members continued to practice and began toying with the idea of original music. Soon they found that though their styles of playing and tastes in music differed greatly, when combined, a raw, original and dark style of alternative rock soon emerged. In February 2002, Jeremy Masters returned to the band and finalized the new sound. Within a month the band was in the studio recording a demo and soon after that playing shows all over their hometown of Columbia, S.C. at clubs including Banana Joe's, Uncle Doctors, New Brookland Tavern, and Sundance, where they were the winners of the Summer 2002 Channel 93.5 Locals Live competition.


When Pain in Life takes the stage, they are known for an energetic , abrasive and in your face live show that is rare in the local scene. The band is currently working on a full album and hopes to be in the studio by the end of the year as well as preparing to branch out and play all over the southeast. Read more on Last.fm.
