Josh Carter got his start in 2003 when his father purchased a Taylor Big Baby guitar. Instantly captivated by his new toy, Carter began taking lessons and learning to play. Three years later, at 16 Carter began playing guitar for his first band. The band was a critical turning point in Carters musical career and added another dimension to his performances as a singer. After the band split up in 2007, Carter began writing his own music with songs inspired from his own life experience, personal relationships and surfing. Carter has an eclectic taste in music but says he’s most influenced by artist such as Sublime, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Mishka, and Trevor Hall. In 2008 Carter recorded his first album "Streetwise Prophet" and began touring with his newly formed band "Josh Carter and The Practice." After reaching mild popularity and success the practice disbanded in September of 2009.
