Compilations from extracts of the Siri Guru Granth are sung by Ragi's (singers of the Rags/Holy hymns) in all Sikh temples throughout the world.
These can be sung in very strict adherance to the stanzas and verses as written in the Siri Guru Granth, or improvised by flitting almost from one hymn to another capturing those verses whose meaning may compliment or clarify another.

Professor Darshan Singh is the leading exponent of this art and often includes sermons that explain some of the cryptic meaning behind some of the hymns written in a dialect not now commonly understood.
