The group “Camiranga” has been originated by “Madeira de Lei”, founded in 2003 by Léo Nascimento and Fernanda de Paula.They have arrived in São Paulo from Minas Gerais(Belo Horizonte) as the group “Sagarana”,outstanding in the musical scene of Minas Gerais,where they have received several prizes in popular music festivals and have recorded the CD “Margens Flácidas”,with the support of a culture incentive town law. The musical direction of the CD was been made by the multi instruments player and composer Gilberto Mauro . They had recorded two videoclips. The first one was directed by the movie makers Sandro Serpa and Bel Bechara, awarded by the Maranhão festival as the best video. The second one was directed by Pablo Lobato and has been played by MTV Brazil and Brazil TV Channel . The CD “Margens Flácidas” has been presented in a show,with the direction by Júlio Maciel, an actor of the “Galpão Group of Theater” in several clubs and theaters in the city of Belo Horizonte, and in Sesc Ipiranga(São Paulo) In 2005, with musicians from São Paulo,they have recorded the Cd and produced the show “Madeira de Lei”.This show have been toured around the city with presentations in “Teatro Escola Brincante”, “Galpão Raso da Catarina”, “Feira de Artes da Vila Madalena”, “Centro de Preservação Cultural USP”, “Centro de Cultura Judaica”, “ONG Projeto Casulo”, “Café Piu Piu”. They have been also contemplated for the Cutural Action Program (PAC 27) ,by the council of culture with the project “Madeira de Lei in the Park”, in 2006. The group name has been “Camiranga” in 2007. The “Camiranga” has realized two free shows and a talk with the public in the amphitheatre of the “Villa Lobos Park” with the support of ”PAC”. They have presented a show in the “Centro de Convivência Social” in Campinas, during the “Virada Cultural Paulista”,in the “Centro de Preservação Cultural USP” and in the “ONG Projeto Casulo”. They has also recorded the CD “Camiranga”.

The cd “Camiranga” has a repertoire made by unpublished songs, that purpose a fusion between the contemporaneous and the traditional, with an actual and extremely brazilian sonority. The compositions have; in their essence, simple words, but at the same time full of poetry and sophistication. The melodies are subtle. The harmonies are modern and farfetched, suggesting traditional and ritualistic rhythms. The voices of the duo Fernanda and Léo, the idealizers of this project, surpass by powering and stamping in the unisonous or in the elaborated counterpoint, with influences that goes until Rough to the Impressionism. The guitar of Léo Nascimento guides the harmony, showing the obvious influence of the guitar players from Minas Gerais, like Toninho Horta and João Bosco, for example. Traditional drums like “Jeremias”(from Camdombe of Minas gerais), “Ilu”(from Ijexá Nation) and “Batás”(Xangô Culture from Cuba) , all of them handmade and played by the percussionist Rômulo Albuquerque, confirm the influence of the black culture from Africa, Cuba and Brazil. Matheus Prado plays a contemporaneous percussion, that remember the urban ambient. This is the “Camiranga”group. In the CD, the multi instruments player Carlinhos Amaral has been played electric bass, seven strings guitar, saxophone alto and ten strings viol.
