The Ownby family mountain heritage goes back to the early 1800s to a place which is now part of the Smoky Mountains National Park called Big Greenbrier. The Ownby family was one of the two first pioneer settlers in that area of East Tennessee. Robert Ownby, married to Candy Coffey Ownby is of direct lineage to this historic mountain family and carries on a tradition of mountain music, which includes writing, singing, recording and publishing. He and his wife, Candy, are inductees to America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame and the official Blues Hall of Fame. The Ownby's have produced and published several top 10, top 40 and top 200 songs worldwide and are members of the CBS Interactive Last FM family.Their mountain music tradition is also part of the TV Series Gospel In the Country, hosted by Tim and Gail Parton WVLR CTN TV (Dolly Partons cousin), also, Gospel in the Smoky Mountains NBC also hosted by Tim and Gail Parton.
