There are at least four artists using this name:

1) Tele (テレ) is a solo project for Japanese musician [member]Taniguchi Kitarou [member] (谷口喜多朗; born June 1, 2000) who started his activities in 2022. He writes, composes, and arranges all of the music himself and is signed to the label Toys Factory and his agency is RED. The music can be described as indie-rock, soft rock and rock with strong pop influences.

The name “Tele” comes from Fender’s Telecaster electric guitar. The guitar was named after the newly popularized medium of television, and Taniguchi was drawn to the name’s lack of inherent meaning. He chose it to express that his project, too, is merely a framework — a vessel for creating music.

He calls Tele a solo project rather than labeling himself a singer-songwriter. This comes partly from his love of bands, but also from his belief that music gains meaning when people come together to create it.

During the TV program EIGHT-JAM on TV Asahi, Kenshi Yonezu mentioned Tele as one of the artists he had been listening to recently.

As a student, Taniguchi formed a three-piece band under the name Tele, but around 2020 the other members left. Feeling he had achieved nothing with the name he had chosen, he decided to keep “Tele” and continue the project on his own. He restarted his musical activity on January 1, 2022, with the first radio broadcast of the song “Birthday” on FM802.

On June 1, 2022, he released his first album, NEW BORN GHOST. He continued to release new material and held his first solo live show, “Tokyo Declaration,” at Tokyo Kinema Club that November, during the pandemic.

In 2023, Tele was selected for Spotify’s “RADAR: Early Noise 2023,” a program highlighting promising new artists. That year he held his second solo concerts, “nai ma ze,” in Tokyo and Osaka, followed by his first national tour, 祝/呪 (“Bless / Curse”).

In 2024, he performed at the Nippon Budokan for the first time as part of his tour “Hakoniwa no Akari.” The Budokan date, June 1, coincided both with the release date of his debut album and his own birthday.

In 2025, he launched another national tour, “How to Love an Afterimage,” which included a show at Yokohama Arena. On April 23, he released his second album, ‘How to Love an Afterimage, or On the Days Without Anchor That We Spend to Accept the Distortion Born from It’.

On June 25, he released the digital-only EP Glass Line. The songs “garasu no sen” and “Glass Line” were used as ending themes for the web anime Takopi’s Original Sin.

He is scheduled to hold his first concert at Makuhari Messe on December 13, 2025, followed by a new tour starting in February 2026.

His support members include 力毅 (Riki Takeshi, from Cody・Lee (李), 2022) or 馬場庫太郎 (Baba Kotarou from NENGU, 2025) on guitar, 森夏彦 (Natsuhiko Mori from Shiggy Jr., THE 2, support for Mrs. GREEN APPLE and Yogee New Waves) on bass, 奥野大樹 (Daiki Okuno, support for BRADIO) on keyboards and 森瑞希 (Mizuki Mori, who is also support drummer for RADWIMPS) on drums.
