There are multiple bands named McKinney:

1. Rural rock band from the early 70s.

2. Formed by singer-songwriter Marc Ash McKinney's, ideology is simple, to defiantly distance themselves from the identikit POP that seemingly infects the charts.

Produced by BFG's Mike Simii, (ex Factory Records, Manchester, or should that be MADchester?), the tracks off the debut album have gained praise from all corners of the music industy. The track "Everyday" has been nominated by BBC Radio 2 as one of the "Songs of The Year", (run in conjuntion with the "British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, home of the Ivor Novello awards); but to quote Laurie Anderson, "Talking about music is like dancing about architecture", so,.......on with the quotes and reviews.

NME's Rick Martin
“Awesome song writing, reminds me of Blondie and Garbage when they were
still valid.”

THE ORGAN
"This is cool, this rules, McKinney make ultra sassy fuzzing fizzing slightly psychedelic grrrl pop rock. They got soul, real big soul, they got smile, real big smile. Locked on
Motown drums, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club flavored psychedelia and they know when to take their foot off the pedal and refocus the drama ah yes pounding, edgy, seductive ? a damn horny sound. They sound like they’re from California, they’re actually from Manchester, think Bangles with sassy fuzz, think Dandy Warhols locked on forward movement. This is very, very cool, this really does rule. Perfect"

UK. T.V.’s CHANNEL FOUR
“Declamatory slice of non-politicised Grrrrl rock”..........No, we have no idea what it
means either!!!

ROOM THIRTEEN
Like a more melodic, UK version of Sleater-Kinney, McKinney are the band who will slowly sneak up and overtake the latest new bands to steal the hearts of both younger rockers and all-knowing, all-condemning oldies in one fell swoop.
