Christophe Marguet - Drummer and Composer

Born May 14, 1965. Studies with Jacques BONNARDEL, Michel SARDABY and Keith COPELAND. Workshops and master classes with Kenny BARRON, Rufus REID, Victor LEWIS, David LIEBMAN, Richie BEIRACH, Ron Mc LURE, Billy HART et John ABERCROMBIE. Since the early 80s, works with musicians such as Barney WILEN, Alain JEAN-MARIE, Vincent HERRING, Bud SHANK, René URTREGER, Turk MAURO, Buddy DE FRANCO, Ted NASH, Ted CURSON, Don SICKLER, Louis SMITH, Wild « Bill »DAVIS Jr, Stephane GRAPPELLI, Didier LEVALLET, Enrico RAVA, François CORNELOUP, Richard GALLIANO, François JEANNEAU, Paolo FRESU, Glenn FERRIS, Marc DUCRET, Claude TCHAMITCHIAN, Gian Luigi TROVESI, Louis SCLAVIS, Claude BARTHÉLÉMY, Yves ROBERT, Sylvain KASSAP, Christof LAUER, Guillaume ORTI , Dominique PIFARÉLY, Pascal CONTÉ, Hélène LABARRIÈRE, Ricardo Del FRA, Mat MANERI, Herb ROBERTSON, Barry GUY, Paul ROGERS, Kenny WHEELER, Hasse POULSEN, François COUTURIER, Anouar BRAHEM, Henri TEXIER, Jean-Luc CAPPOZZO, Evan PARKER, John GREAVES … In 1993, he founded his own band « Christophe Marguet Trio » with Sébastien TEXIER and Olivier SENS. After winning the National Jazz Competition « La défense » in 1995, the band has played several festivals (Sons d’hiver, Banlieues Bleues, La Villette, Amiens, Le Mans, Lausanne...) and recorded its first album « RESISTANCE POETIQUE » (Label Bleu) which has won the « Django d’Or » (best new french group) in 1997. He worked for the french movies makers Bertrand TAVERNIER : « CA COMMENCE AUJOURD’HUI » music from Louis SCLAVIS and « HOLLY LOLA» music from Henri TEXIER. At the present time, works mostly with his own quartet (Sebastien TEXIER, Olivier BENOIT, Bruno CHEVILLON) or sextet « Reflections » (D. LAZRO, M. MASSOT, A. VANKENHOVE, P. DESCHEPPER, O. BENOIT) and with band such as Eric WATSON, Henri TEXIER, Joachim KÜHN, Joëlle LÉANDRE, Claude TCHAMITCHIAN, Yves ROUSSEAU.
