Since their formation in late 2002, Los Albertos have been creating a frenzy upon the dance floors and grassy fields of Europe with their inimitable foot-stompin, brass-blaring high energy blend of ska, punk, funk, dub and original beats. Its dance music, Jim, but not as we know it Drawing upon a peculiarly twisted English humour (where The Comic Strip meets League of Gentlemen) this six-piece throw in some dynamite horn, guitar and drum action and invariably you end with something very naughty, but very nice... Their first, independently produced and released album Los Bop, contained such classics as Cheeky Rascal, Bossman, Mr Chip and Pikey Killed My Goldfish. But they are now upping the ante with a killer twelve-track album due for release in the spring with new classics such as Friends, Heal, Im Leaving the Band, Scientist, Resist and Beer Panic. Its impossible to make any direct comparisons but suffice to say that you can hear everything from John Barry to Prince, Madness to Ian Dury & The Blockheads, Lee Perry to The Clash - they have literally thrown it all (including the kitchen sink) into the pot, and come up with a brand new and very tasty recipe for the ears. Its the sheer energy and fun that binds it into what is the Los Albertos* sound. Already they have gained a big underground following with gigs at many of the best festivals in the United Kingdom including Glastonbury, Beautiful Days, Shambahla, Larmer Tree, Spraoi and Lovebox Weekender. Their monthly residency at Brightons Joogleberry is the stuff of legend and theyve played many other gigs around the country and in Europe.

Part nice men from next door, part cheeky rascals, all fun, Los Albertos lit the festival fuse with a Spiegeltent-packing, foot-stomping, rip snorter playing ska-based dance music of the highest order the guitarist ranges from chicken scratch to Carlos Santana, sax and horn go from wall of brass via horn stabs to klezma reediness, the bass is fat and solid, and the drummer is just superb.
