Poster Child encapsulates an eclectic collection of electronic/pop/instrumental songs with an emphasis on philosophical and political ideas. The songwriting is inspired from information that the mainstream mentality often shoves aside, labeling it as “science fiction.” Songs like "Sinners of the Holy Land" and "Threat Level Midnight" highlight the never-ending reason for war and the “sinister minds” behind it. Psychological movies, AM radio, and Youtube conspiracy videos all serve as inspiration to this solo project of Enzo Tiano.

Poster Child is singer/composer Enzo Tiano, who started writing songs at the age of twelve. After immigrating to Los Angeles from the Philippines when he was fifteen, he started singing for the church choir. He then began to develop a sense of melodic urge to write and sing his own songs. Influenced by artists like John Lennon, David Bowie, and Thom Yorke, he manifested his songwriting into an imaginative, twilight-zone, party vibe and formed his first live band "Paraventure" when he was 17. After a couple of years, he put music aside to pursue fashion design as a student in FIDM in Los Angeles, California for a year. In 2010 he felt called to return to music and joined the band Twin Falcons which, along with Poster Child, became his rebirth into the music scene.

Although the subject matter of Poster Child’s songs is fairly serious and vague in nature, Tiano is a fan of sarcasm and the occasional visitation of light-hearted smiles. His playfulness and child-like wonder is tangled with the vicious cynicism of an old hippie into a pysbient electro pop. It would fit well alongside The Whitest Boy Alive, Caribou, or Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, while still maintaining it’s own uniqueness. Poster Child is influenced by musicians that think outside the box yet still have a pop range that connects back to the audience. The Black Keys, Tame Imapala, LCD Soundsystem, and Local Natives all fall into the realm of Poster Child’s influence.

The entire Suspicious Characters EP was recorded in a week, fueled by caffeine and the newly-discovered free time created by unemployment. “We Don’t Have to Talk” was written after coming home from a party broken up by philosophical beliefs. About the song, Tiano says, “I started noticing that if we all talk about ourselves, the conversation never ends (in a positive way). But if we start talking about life, religion, and war, we start hating each other eventually and we start thinking of our differences.” Other stand-out tracks include “Sinners of the Holy Land,” written after listening to George Noory’s Coast to Coast AM Radio show, and “Resident Mammal,” which reflects on Tiano’s appreciation for life and living every day like it’s the last.

Poster Child will self-release Suspicious Characters EP on January 22nd, 2011 to the bloggesphere, college and non-commercial radio, and the music-loving public. Tiano is currently working on a full-length album for Poster Child and plans to release an album with the band Twin Falcons in early 2011. Read more on Last.fm.
