A little over two years as a band has seen debut full-length, Irene (Dirty Cabin Records), to fruition. And whether the instrumentation incorporates heavy guitars and jazz influence or keeps with a bare folk style with acoustic guitar, Irene doesn’t really have any filler tracks to speak of. Led by lead vocalist, Lee Ramsey, Mize and the Drive was formed in the Fall of 2009, when Lee began sharing song ideas with friends of his who had been performing in various other music projects in Middle Tennessee. The rest of the band (including Ben Wencil on rhythm guitar, Cody Malak on lead guitar, Alex Stevenson on saxophone, Les Greer on bass, and Dan Jarnagin on drums) quickly began contributing to these ideas, and before they knew it, an extensive collection of music was wrote and performance ready.
