There are at least two bands with the name Ulfhednar:
1. Ulfhednar is a 5 piece norse pagan influenced melodic death metal band, from Quebec Canada.
2. Russian Black Metal band ULFHEDNAR (2003-2008)
The concept of Ulfheðnar is somewhat similar to the one of Berserkr (Old Icelandic for "Bear - Shirt") which is found in Medieval Icelandic Literature in reference to warriors which were dedicated to the god Óðinn and whose prowess in battle, coupled with an alleged invulnerability made them fierce adversaries. In later Sagas, the Berserkir appear to have been reduced to a purely negative and antagonistic role and must most often be slain by a hero with the help of supernatural allies or a magic weapon.
