Ma Tiao (马条), a Chinese folk rock singer and songwriter originally from Karamay, Xinjiang Province, now in Beijing.

1994 came to Beijing, 1999 finished his self producted debut album "Silly Girl" 《傻女孩》 and got signed to Warner Music China in October but due to div. reasons this album got never released. In April 2004, Ma Tiao got a new deal at famous indie lable Taihe Maitian 太合麦田 and also wrote songs for pop stars such as Lao Lang 老狼, Ye Pei 叶蓓 etc. His 2nd album "Friends comming" 《朋友来了》 was produced in 2005, containing his magnum song "Flower" 《花儿》 which offers a rich taste of uigurish music style. In 2006, he wrote another song "Waiting" 《等待》 for his friend and label mate Lao Lang 老狼 and was released on Lao Lang's lates solo album. 2007, Ma Tiao changed label to 13 Month Records 十三月唱片, his 3rd opus "Ma Tiao" 《马条》 was released in 2009.

Ma Tiao (马条) is a folk musician from the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, playing a variety of folk musical instruments. Using an empty bottle, while plucking strings, mastering percussion, as well as an amazing talent in vocal mimicry. Free and easy and unrestrained power describes his stage performance, always bringing you surprises and endless reveries.
