Harbouring an acoustic heartbeat with an electric soul, Manchester five-piece Sad Sells are a breath of fresh-air in the stagnating pool that is Manchester indie. Drawing influence from the likes of Big Thief, Radiohead and Phoebe Bridgers, the band’s brand of transatlantic folk rock feels both fresh and familiar.

Capturing raw emotions within a blend of haunting melodies and dynamic rhythms, Sad Sells invites you to experience their introspective journey through a landscape of vulnerability, the first taste of which is debut single ‘Between the Covers’.

Three minutes of lilting vocal harmonies, kaleidoscopic guitars and effortless percussion, it’s described by front-man Xaiver Jacques as being “based on how I felt at the end of a period of my life. It talks about fear and vulnerability.”

In spite of this however, ‘Between the Covers’ feels as uplifting as it is emotional and is perfect introduction to one of Manchester’s most promising, and indeed interesting, new bands.
