As it stands now, Seaweed Jack is Spokane, Washington’s go-to indie band. Whenever a national touring group - be it indie, bubblegum pop, or live hip-hop - needs a local opener, they call these four gents. They've opened for an absurd gamut of bands, from Kings of Leon and Shiny Toy Guns to The Like, Vendetta Red and The Click Five. They've even gone on in support of former Pharcyde MC Tre Hardson - and they've done it, quite simply, by being the most experimental, fearless, creative band in town. Seaweed Jack has an insane, infectious, live presence and a sizeable following, which has now begun to translate into success and acceptance in bigger venues across the state and throughout the Pacific Northwest.
A melting pot of sound, noise, and personalities, music critics cannot attach a definitive label on these hard working boys. Fusing elements of indie, blues, rock and jazz, this music actually is as so much music only claims to be: something new. Nautical themes, clanking chains, an alto sax, and emotional shout-sing vocal dynamics make Seaweed Jack’s manic live show a uniquely astounding experience.
Seaweed Jack have self-released one album, The Captain (2005) and have recently begun recording their highly anticipated follow up.
