John DePatie is a guitar player who has been active in Los Angeles, CA since 1993. With one foot in the rock camp and one foot in the jazz camp he began his professional career by playing in local rock bands, as well as jazz duos and trios.

He formed his own jazz/fusion group in 1996 in Los Angeles, CA and by 1998 had a weekly residency at the jazz club Rocco in Bel Air. It was during this time period that he vowed to write a new song for every gig, and it was through this practice that he greatly expanded his repertoire. One of the bass players in his group at this time was David Hughes and it was during this engagement that they developed a rapport. The two have co-written several songs and played on each other's recordings over the years, most recently on DePatie's Jaeljo Overture.

In 1999 he joined singer Will Faeber's group for live performances and the recording of Walking My Elephant. The DePatie/Faeber partnership continues to this day in the group Cathouse Thursday. Other releases include Nashville Baby, 'Til Death Do Us Party and Travel By Stars.

In 2004 he auditioned for Nancy Sinatra's group and has performed with her since then, most notably on the 2004 American tours and 2005 European tour. He also contributed acoustic guitar to Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad for her Nancy Sinatra album.

In 2006 he teamed up with singer Debbie Hennessey and co-wrote 2 songs and played guitar on most of the tracks for her Good As Gone CD.

In the summer of 2007 he did a mini-tour on acoustic guitar with jazz-pop singer Beth Hirsch in support of her Wholehearted CD.

In 2008-2009 he toured extensively with country singer Kate Russell.

In 2010 he went to Reykjavík, Iceland to perform behind Icelandic crooner Geir Ólafsson at the Reykjavík Jazz Festival.

In the summer of 2011 he did a short tour of California with Side FX featuring Kim Cameron and recorded guitar parts for My Face Is Shining. In August he performed with Leif Garrett.

In 2012 he released a single,Lt. Worf's Shred Machine, and re-released his first single from a couple years earlier, Black Boots.

In August 2013 he released his first EP, Psychedelic Cowboy, a collection of guitar instrumentals. He also performed in Oslo, Norway at a festival honoring Norwegian guitar great Marius Müller-Marius Müller's Funhouse.

In November 2013 he and Don Randi released Acoustimania, 12 duets for piano and nylon-string guitar.
