Austin based Rico's Gruv is the creation of Richard "Rico" Kelly, a local guitarist and songwriter, currently recording at Wonderland Studios in Austin.

Although blues is a common thematic thread of the music, Rico's rock and country influence can be heard throughout. If there is a Hard Americana genre, that's what Rico does. He likes to call it Texas Honky Tonk music, citing Billy Joe Shaver, Steve Earl, and Joe Ely as kings of that style. Rico readily admits he is a guitarist who writes songs and sings as an excuse to play more guitar.

In 2010 Rico's Gruv released a 6 song EP through Tunecore, entitled "Rico's Gruv Rockin' Blues", and is available on iTunes and Amazon among other online outlets.

It is still a bit of a mystery as to how the "Funky Cowbell Blues" track Rico posted on Soundclick.com arrived here, but he is pleasantly surprised.
