There is more than one artist with this name:

1.) Sturgeon was an Instrumental band out of Lake Orion, Michigan. Their first demo was released when they were all 16 (sans the Bassist at 15). Their sound is heavily Influenced by Don Caballero, Isis, Mogwai and Pelican. The group's last configuration was comprised of four members with the addition of Ryan Riggs; their 2nd guitarist. The group has released 2 demos and was in the process of creating a concept album. After the sudden departure of Anderson from the band due to his concern over popularity, the band decided to call it quits. The remaining members continued their pursuit of extreme music/avant-garde and formed Hedorah.

2.) Sturgeon is a thrash metal band from North Shore, Auckland, New Zealand. Formed in 2007, pummelling songs and an energetic live show have earned them spots supporting major acts including Sinate and Dawn of Azazel.
