"Canhoto" means 'left handed' in portuguese. So a few famous Brazilian musicians were known by this nickname. Mainly, it may refer to:
1) Américo Jacomino (1898-1928), a guitar player and composer from São Paulo;
2) Waldiro Frederico Tramontano (1908-1980), a cavaquinho player from Rio de Janeiro, mainly associated with choro and samba; he played for more than two decades with his band, Canhoto & seu Regional;
