Santiago Sanmiguel is theorist of broken hearts. His songs oscillate in the line of tension between giving everything for love and the proper soundtrack to break-all-the-dishes-after-she-leaves-you. In his world each cup of coffee is sweetened with a cube of nostalgia.
Singer-songwriter tired of waiting for the “perfect” moment for a release, Santiago Sanmiguel decided to share his new releases; to prevent his songs from suffering that unparalleled the fate of an unmatched sock, abandoned at the bottom of the drawer. Sad Music , Bedroom pop.
Every song he releases comes under the condition of reaching #1000streamsEn100días (1.000 streams in 100 days). Each song that does not meet that goal will return to the "unpublished" drawer. Every new artist has a desire to be heard and a constant drive for self-sabotage
Santiago Sanmiguel grew up Bucaramanga (Colombia), musically drunk with a cocktail made of Coti, Fito Páez, Charly García and Andrés Calamaro to survive a city that vibrates only with vallenato.
During the 00’s he was part of the musical group Estorake, which was an inexact mix between tropipop and #emotropical. Since 2013 he works as a lawyer and composer in creative projects related to the arts in Bogotá as part of Derecho Rocks.
His music draws from Santiago Cruz, Fonseca, Andrés Cepeda and El Kanka.
Although he is a musical admirer of the precision of Jorge Drexler, Pala's meter, Andrés Correa's rimes, Covi Quintana's melodic questions, Solo Valencia 's music textures and Sebastián Romero's honesty.
In 2013 Santiago Sanmiguel presented his first EP Porque Quise", Spanish pop project that wrinkles the heart and makes us feel intimate with our home through lyrics and acoustic musical arrangements. This EP consisted of three songs: Superman, Cuando No Estás and Instinto de Conservación. Singer-songwriter
Cowrites with Efra Ardila (songwriter for Salo, Wamba,Juan Fe Pulido), Angela Pico, Pablo Dazán, Linda Habitante, Pablo Matices y Alex Jarvar (and with any other friend or client of Derecho Rocks that accepts the invitation).
