Little Rascal Records label owner/manager Brett Caporn first appeared on the underground electronic music scene with his track Sizzled Dub as Spiral Sound System. Its nuanced, intricate production set Sizzled Dub against the best moments of British down-tempo label Pork. And, inspired by its inclusion on Australia’s only specialist electronic music magazine, Cyclic Defrost's promo disc that was circulated at European festivals such as Sonar in 2005, Caporn compiled Dub Rascals Volume 1 which was release in mid-2006. This release was then followed up with Dub Rascals Volume 2 in 2007, produced in collaboration with dubwise/dnb label artist Jerry Mane under the moniker of Dub Rascals Soundsystem and with a bunch of other dubwise tracks from a handful of label and underground artists. The 'little rascal's' intend to keep the dub flowing with a long awaited Dub Rascals Volume 3 in the near future, and continue with a flow of top quality dub, dubstep, electronica and drum'n'bass releases on the unique label.

Spiral Soundsystem made a good first impression on the Perth electronic music scene with a dubwise jungle/dnb set at the Deuce event last Friday, his first DJ set in Perth since a one off event at the Hyde Park Hotel with Tweaking Productions in 2006. His set covered much of the spectrum of drum and bass with forays into moody electronic soundscapes and with a selection of the labels' own tracks in the mix. Others may remember Brett as the bass player in late 90's post-everything, punk-ass, forest blockaders 'Snottygobble' from WA, from a by-gone music era here in WA, another element to Brett's musical makeup, showing his depth and experience.
