West Indies born hip hop artist J the S, has quickly become the mc to watch on the Boston music scene. His music is heavily influenced by the sounds of his adolecent life in Nevis as well as the urban narrative that became his day to day upon moving to the east coast. Inspired by early 90's hip hop when sincerity dominated the marketplace, he carries on the tradition of interpreting the world with keen and insightful lyrical content, in the same style as Tupac and Nas. Jarrod Annis WERS 88.9 refers to J the S as " A true mc: he is honest and fiercely dedicated to the music he loves, using the mic as a tool to address the issues that exist in the world."

Following the critically acclaimed Strategy Of The Crown LP, J The S has just released his new street album. Year Of The Snake Volume 2: AT CLOSE RANGE is hosted by DJ Vlad the Butcher. This album marks the most personal of all his projects to date. His first single "Long Hot Summer" featuring Letia Larok illuminates pertinent social issues for Boston locals. The second of two, "Three Words" is already in heavy rotation on Hip Hop stations nationally.
