Five Star Diner began writing music in early 1996 and Recorded their first album Tavern Ticket in the fall of that Year. Tavern Ticket was Released in 1997 as a 21 song artistic sound collage. Tavern Ticket contains wide ranging influences from Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Clutch, Fugazi, and Robert Johnson.
The Band Consisted of four members: Michael Dooley (Guitar/Vocals), Eric Beringer (Guitar/Vocals), Sam Williams (Bass,Vocals/Piano), and Joe Carda (Drums/Percussion).
After Tavern Ticket Sam Williams left the band to embark on another career and the rest of the band went on to release their second album Taster which was recorded in 1999 and released in 2000.
