In 2005 Scottie Royal started making his first beats with a copy of FL Studio. At the time he had been an avid fan of Hip Hop constantly listening to records produced by DJ Premier, Pete Rock and many others. Building off that influence he started sampling any material he could get his hands on.

The early years were sample heavy, but as he progressed with his craft, he began to explore further ways of creating music. Not surprisingly this is when Scottie started listening to Dilla, The Roots, and 20 Syl. These three would provide a great deal of influence on Scottie's style going forward.

In 2008, Scottie linked up with North Carolina emcee Lazurus, producing his album "Long Days and Fast Nights". The album was his first full length produced project and was a testament to just how far he had come since making first beat only a few years earlier. Over the next few years Scottie would go on to produce several other projects including: Royal's Tavern (2010), 'The Glass Is Half Full Of' with Ardamus (2012), and 'Soul Sessions' with Ill Effect(2012).

In the past few years Scottie has produced for Actual Proof ("Time" from "Still Hotter Than July"), won two beat battles in North Carolina, won 4 Stones Throw Records Beat Battle online, been a runner up for Chuck Inglish's and Chromeo's 'Legs' remix contest. Additionally he has been featured on Stones Throw's Soundcloud feed for his remix of Boardwalk's 'I'm to Blame' entitled 'Blame Scottie'.

Scottie is currently apart of the Ireland based instrumental Hip Hop label, We Grow Wax, and has been featured on all three We Got It In Nature compilations as well as his own debut release 'Great Scottie'. He is also back to his collaborating ways working with fellow North Carolina artist Trapbo' Chad (YoungFello Recordings) to produce his newest project 'The EP'.
