Churupaca began one winter in Buenos Aires, where Fefo Selles (singer, bassist, composer, artistic producer) and Juana Aguirre (singer, guitarist, composer) met and began to share their songs and musical worlds. Juana, who was living in Bolivia at the time, met again with Fefo during the summer of 2012, and in March of that same year they played the first stages, adding Ricardo Boretta (drums) to their performances. Shortly afterwards, Dario Bercovich (clarinet), Joaquin Gutiérrez Calviño (accordion), and finally Pablo Viru Tirachio (guitar, banjo, charango) joined them.

On stage they dress equally, in suit and tie, far from being a formalism, but rather a manifesto. They believe in a more egalitarian society, and work to make their music a Latin American cry of unity... There are no real boundaries separating them from the audience. Sharing, glances, warmth and festivity are key components in the celebration that takes place on every stage they inhabit.

Churupaca creates a unique universe of sounds in which influences from Rioplatense, Latin American, Flamenco, Balkan, reggae and klezmer music, among others, can be easily highlighted.
