Originated in Grahamstown South Africa, in the mid to late 1980's, as Vader Jakob, then reinventing itself later in Johannesburg as Manhole in the early 1990. Their final manifestation was as Live Jimi Presley from 1992 -1996/7. The South African music scene at the time was unforgiving and apart from a few appearances in compilation albums the band is for the most part unrecorded, however those lucky enough to have seen them perform will never forget the experience.

Although there were many band changes the one constant was lead singer and guitarist Marc Feltham later be known as Marc Presley. He was the driving force behind the various incarnations and had this been a decade later and not during the last days of Apartheid artistic isolation, the band would have gone international and be far better known than they are today.

Citing influences as diverse as Johnny Cash, The Swans; Einsturzende Neubauten and Big Black and Pussy Galore, Live Jimi Presley was a huge performance band. The band's signature features were angry guitars, angle grinders and percussion on large truck springs as well as other assembled junk.
