Born in the Portuguese island of São Miguel (Azores), Sandro grew up in a rich culture of island life, the bounty of the sea and his mother's singing voice enveloping their tiny house.

In 1984 ,the family immigrated to East Somerville, MA. The whole family struggling to make ends meet, Sandro learned his lessons on the streets of Somerville and Cambridge.

In 2003, he achieved success in Portugal with his songs "Tu És Uma Galinha" and "Eu Não Vou Chorar".
