Saucers hailed from New Haven Connecticut, USA and was formed in 1977 by Craig Bell, formerly of Rocket From The Tombs and Mirrors, in Cleveland, Ohio. Saucers consisted of Craig Bell, bass guitar and vocals, Mark Mulcahy, drums and vocals (later of Miracle Legion and solo), Malcolm Doak, keyboards, and Malcolm Marsden, guitar and vocals. This configuration recorded, in 1978, the first six songs on the CD "What We Did", (released on GTA records in 2002). The version of "Muckraker" from this session appeared on the 1982 compilation album "It Happened But Nobody Noticed" released by Gustav Records. Malcolm Doak was replaced by Seth Tiven, guitar and vocals, in 1979. Seth later formed the band Dumptruck. In 1979 Saucers recorded seven songs, of which "What We Do", "Muckraker", and "I Didn't Get It" became their debut single in the spring of that year. In 1980 Malcolm Marsden left the band and was replaced by Katherine Cormack, guitar, keyboards, and vocals. Saucers released their second single "A Certain Kind Of Shy" / "She's Alright" on Gustav Records in 1980. Shortly before they disbanded in late 1980, Saucers recorded four more songs which are the final selections on What We Did, along with a live track of "Why Me" which was recorded in their loft to accompany a video made that summer by Monica Thompson.
