Holworks Discography
Carolina Commons
My first "album" completed in 2008 that has allowed me entrance into the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers as a Publisher and Artist. . Just When I Thought, Blue Opal, Swift Water, and These Eyes For You received some terrestrial radio and Internet Radio play. Carolina Commons is a collection of blues, country, rock, southern rock, and classic rock songs that are word driven stories sure to please. Something for everyone. Dale's Song, a tribute to NASCAR is the featured track of the month.
Splash
Anything and everythng that has to do with this word more than likely shows up on this album. Splash is more than a hint of color, or a precision dousing in the mix of a coveted beverge yet what would the world be without that color or favorite concoction? This is a wordy album filled with danceable tunes that can enliven your spirit. She Chose Me, music did so I feel like I Must Be Dreaming when I looked inside that well and found her coin. There's a Chance, I believe it so I indulge creativity with a Rainbow to Your Heart or the headline of We're Going Green This Christmas. These songs have been played quite a few times on many different Internet sites like this one.
Trace
Almost a follow up to Splash, Trace is designed in many different styles that would never happen without the "89.00 keyboard" purchased at the local SuperCenter, oh my. Whether it is a Samba, Pasa Doble, Country, or Alternative, Trace delivers in the same Higher Order Language Works fashion. Eliminate the facilitation, you either get it or you do not simply because these songs are simply more demonstrations of placing note to syllable regardless of the style, meter, or instrumentation - mission accomplished. It's Time to Leave, Second Chance, Carnival Cruise Samba, and Clock Hands solidify the footprints in the sand metaphor as highlighted by the album cover.
Natural Law
Natural Law came about as a look at interconnections within the world around us, flourishing or vanishing as it may be. I also play upon the natural order to exchange feeling with melody as a means to transform the mundane often overlooked blessings all around us. Guess my science background sort of bleeds through the words abit as I am not sure I have ever heard anyone mention cholecalciiferol in a song hinting at Sol. Through that observational lens, I portray the many identities I conform to and wear. I prefer the outsider's eye looking into the magnificent order and give thanks for being able to understand a fraction of it.
Circle Lore
The power of circles is evident in all we do, think, see, or feel, a rampant bombardment of interconnections that propel or hinder development, growth, and possibility. The perfect shape, the perfect connection, inescapable, fluid, yet restraining. I took a huge leap into the R&B genre to express many of the ideas that came to me as I tried to pinpoint my observations in words and melody. Evolving, revolving, and layered, the emotional connections between the like and the unlike as circles form elongate or disappear without the effort to maintain them.
Pandora's Box
What happened when she opened it? What happened when I opened it? That's what happens when you step out on faith and belief in yourself. Will talent lie there in an abandoned well an indigenous spot that children see, like hope remaining in the box, or be released as easily as mischief, pain, suffering, and sorrow? The weight is tremendous, stifling, and ever present. Temptation crawls on every corner like a cat looking for a fur toy treat.
Anomaly
The smallest of measure, the outlier, the abnormal, the attention catching rarity that stares at us, baffles us, and makes us feel as unimportant as the immensity of the sky. That which we see, that which we do not see cradled there in the stories that erupt in speech of the long lost, the undiscovered, the pioneer. Capturing the channels between the ordinary and the extraordinary I ply the layers together through sweat, concentration, and a repetitiveness that exacerbates carpal tunnel. A mixture of songs again as I create the songs to explain the mystery of anomaly I perceive.
Ground Floor
So where is the beginning,, this breaking ground one small shovel of dirt at a time, cosmopolitan, yet country as there is?. . .I see the construction of music integration into my life as if we were long lost partners, . . how many layers of skin have I shed in this reptilian fashion as melody lays bare the layers one note at a time. I have found footing in the stories I relive with each recital as the performance arm enlivens my spirit to sing. So many faces are drawn to the new old. . . I brought my waders as I search for the true musical muse transfixed on me there on a bending note tremolo. - Ground Floor - Mark Holman - Holworks - ASCAP 2012
Therapy For a Mad Man
In a word Therapy for a Mad Man means reconstruction. To strip away levels of habit and to rearrange those layers to become a better person. Having insight that promotes feeling, I use words and notes to convey many sides to the coin. Why would anyone step out of one life through a shadow perception of an internal reality? Why do people dream? Why do we have ambition? Why are there neurological underpinnings that chemically cause our actions? I try to answer many of these questions pertaining to self in this my ninth go at a musical tombstone.
