Born in Teesto, Arizona, Kevin Yazzie (Navajo) and his wife Alberta now reside in Mesa, Arizona with their children, Shailen and Natashbah. Yazzie began singing at the age of six, attending pow-wows and Native American Church ceremonies. At the age of thirteen, he grew closer to the Native American Church and it's songs of prayer and healing inspiring him to begin composing his own songs. He credits the peyote medicine and prayer for providing him with great comfort throughout his life. His inspiration for composing songs comes from his close friendships, family and those in need of comfort, healing and spiritual uplifting.

Yazzie appeared with Grammy nominee Cheevers Toppah on "First Light" his first recording with Canyon Records. "Faith" marks his first solo recording with the label.
