"Today, It’s a Wonderful Day" was the debut album by French band A Singer Must Die.
Recorded and mixed in France and mastered by Calum Malcolm (The Blue Nile, Prefab Sprout).
An album of contrasts with songs such as The Crash and Croydon Road, upbeat and definite
singles. On the other hand, new songs mix supremely beautiful melodies and harmonies with dark
lyrics. The music is at times hopeful and at other moments harsh and challenging. The lyrics vary from
playful to sombre.
A Singer Must Die have their own very distinctive sound partly due to Manu’s accent and partly due
to the music’s complexity and arrangements. There is raw emotion present at every turn. But above
all, there is honesty. The songs do not take the predictable and easy option, they leave the listener
challenged. Since the album release in 2007, they were spotted by the BBC, Magic [indie French
magazine], or the indie US reference: The Big Takeover Magazine]. UK reviewers were impressed by
their quality of story-telling and songwriting.

Today, the newly-formed band A Singer Must Die are 5 musicians who are digging a pop romantism,
sometimes with some electric tensions that make them immediately recognizable.
In the late 2011 as a side-project, the band were asked to compose the unreleased title The Armless
Sailor, exclusively for the ambitious and original Artist-Book TERRES NEUVES, a project conceived
by French photographer Jérôme Sevrette which includes 32 songwriters and photographs inside a
seized-vinyl album (the project also includes tracks from Richard Pinhas, And Also The Trees,..).
Release date: 26th November 2012.
A few minutes only after this track is on internet, Scottish videomaker Suttieslea worked on it and the
song was already aired by several UK radios, such as Radio UK International or BRfm.
The band are preparing their new EP whose theme will be around Sin City. The title Vegas Parade
sounds just like an evidence.
