Vocalist, lyricist, composer and educator Fay Victor has been hailed by the New York Times as “artistically complete” and “an accomplished vocal modernist” by Time Out New York for her unique vocal approach to the blues, jazz, free improvisation and her own original material. Starting from the jazz tradition, Victor has gone on to encompass a multi-genre approach to music, lyrics and song called “Freesong.” Having released seven critically acclaimed recordings as a leader, touring extensively throughout Europe as well as Japan, India, Canada, Russia, and Mexico has worked with a veritable who's-who of musicians including Anthony Braxton, Misha Mengelberg, William Parker, Ab Baars, Dave Burrell, Hamid Drake, Roswell Rudd, Laurence “Butch' Morris, Gary Lucas and Tyshawn Sorey.
