Melodic Jones is the quintessential San Francisco Bay Area Band: funky, groovy, moody, bluesy and diverse as the place it arises from. Composed of 3 guys from different parts of the country, Melodic Jones delivers fresh originals that make you want to move and take those old-school records off the shelf.

Nick Z: guitar and lead vocals. Nick Z's gift is sweet melody and a silver voice. Reminiscent of Paul Simon, or more recently, Jason Mraz, Nick Z croons and swoons his way through familiar-sounding numbers that have become the hallmark of Melodic Jones. Hailing from San Diego, California, Nick Z was raised on the old-school records of his parents, ranging from the Bee Gees to Ella Fitzgerald. Having written songs since high school, Nick Z combines his guitar licks and melodic hooks with lyrical contributions from best-friend singer songwriter Nick Marcotte, forging original tunes that are both catchy and poignant.

Mark Bailey: bass and vocals. An accomplished musician, Mark Bailey played in bands ranging from heavy metal, rock, country and jazz in his former home of Kansas City, Missouri. A long musical road has led him to this point, with tastes as diverse as Pink Floyd, Hank Williams, Tool and Jameroquai. He now resides comfortably as bass player of Melodic Jones, contributing also the smooth vocal harmonies that put the finish on MJ’s sound. Mark is a notable producer, having co-produced the debut release of his former project, Pickin’ Trix.

Mason Blake: drums. Rounding out the trio, Mason Blake holds down the sound with his soulful drum technique. An accomplished songwriter in his own right, Blake arrived in the Bay Area fully-formed with his debut album, Where I Belong. He cites the Eagles, Beatles, Zeppelin and Metallica as being his school of music while growing up in his native South Dakota. During his youth, Blake taught himself a variety of instruments, making him something of an oddity in his rural hometown. He found himself a new home in the Bay Area and as drummer of Melodic Jones, where his greatest talents shine through.
